«Le chevalier errant», els Saluzzo del Montferrat i l’autoria del «Curial»

Abstract

RESUM: Es vol cridar l’atenció de la crítica literària catalana sobre Le chevalier errant (Torí-París, 1394-1405) del marqués de Saluzzo (l’aventura al·legoritzada, autobiogràfica i dantesca, d’un cavaller caigut i redimit, a través de tres llibres: d’Amor, de Fortuna i de Coneixença, respectivament), obra conservada al Montferrat des del 1435. Pogué servir de precedent i motiu d’inspiració per a l’autor de Curial e Güelfa (Nàpols-Milà?, ca. 1445-1448) a l’hora de concebre la novel·la cavalleresca catalana com un relat on el protagonista travessa per tres llibres també: d’Amor, de Cavalleria i de Virtut. A més de coincidències estructurals, argumentals i onomàstiques, és possible que Enyego d’Àvalos –a qui atribuïm l’autoria del Curial– haguera tingut accés a la biblioteca Saluzzo de Casale Monferrato, pels vincles que mantingué amb bibliòfils montferratesos mentre residí a la cort de Milà (1435-1447), on curava dels interessos del rei d’Aragó i Nàpols, Alfons el Magnànim.

ABSTRACT: We would like to encourage the Catalan literary criticism to pay attention to Le chevalier errant (Turin-Paris, 1394-1405) by the marquesss of Saluzzo (the allegorised, autobiographical and Dantesque adventure of a fallen and redeemed knight all over three books: about Love, Fortune and Knowledge, respectively), a work kept in Monferrato since 1435. It could serve as a precedent and inspiration motive for Curial e Güelfa’s author (Naples-Milan?, ca. 1445-1448) when he conceived this Catalan chivalric romance as a story where the protagonist goes also through three books: about Love, Chivalry and Virtue. Apart from structural, plot and onomastic coincidences, it is possible that Enyego d’Àvalos –to whom we attribute the Curial’s authorship– could have access to Saluzzo de Casale Monferrato’s library, according to the bonds he kept with bibliophiles from Montferrat during his stay in the court in Milan (1435-1447), where he looked after the interests of the king of Aragon and Naples, Alfonso the Magnanimous.
